Update on Tours in Washington, D.C. (as of 27 June 2022)
- I’m excited to announce that the White House and the U.S. Capitol will re-open to the public for a limited number of tours.
- If you’re interested in visiting the Library of Congress, you can book a self-guided timed entry pass here. It is my favorite building after the U.S. Capitol.
- The Bureau of Engraving and Printing and the U.S. Supreme Court remain closed for the foreseeable future.
White House Tours
The White House is open for tours Tuesdays through Saturdays. All tour requests must be submitted a minimum of 30 days prior to your travel dates. To maximize your chance of getting a tour, I recommend submitting your request at least 90 days in advance of your travel dates.
It’s important for everyone to understand that the White House is completely in charge of its tour schedule and what days they’re open. My office requests the tour on your behalf and we do everything we can to secure it, but we cannot guarantee the request will be honored, regardless of how early the request is made. The White House is the most popular tourist destination in Washington, D.C. and tours consistently fill up three months in advance.
The U.S. Capitol has reopened fully for tours.
The House gallery remains closed, and school groups interested in touring the U.S. Capitol are eligible for a tour led by the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center staff. School groups are limited to 50 people, including chaperones.
All tours are provided on a first-come/first-served basis. Due to the large number of visitors to D.C., we recommend you submit your request as early as possible. This is especially important when requesting a White House tour or if you’re visiting D.C. during the peak tourist season. Between March and October, all tours can fill up completely as early as three months in advance. Again, we will do everything we can to help secure the tour(s) you’re requesting.
Please fill out and submit the form below for your tour request(s) and if you have any questions, do call us at (202) 225-8104. We want to help make your visit to our nation’s Capitol a terrific one.
