Student Advisory Board

The 18th Congressional District’s Student Advisory Board was founded in 1993 as a way to give young people a voice in our government.

The Student Advisory Board is made up of high school students who live or attend high school in the 18th Congressional District. Past Student Advisory Boards have researched topics and polled students on issues important to young people and made recommendations on legislation being considered in Congress. Their most recent reports have covered important topics such as alternative energy, the economy, human rights, and the Innovation Agenda.

Candidates are current high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors residing or attending school in the 18th Congressional District and are responsible, creative, enthusiastic, and dedicated.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Student Advisory Board for 2021-2022 will meet virtually by video conference. There will be only one Student Advisory Board for students across the 18th Congressional District, and students will be divided into committees focusing on a specific issue area of their choice.
