Rep. Eshoo Votes to Pass Paycheck Fairness Act
WASHINGTON, DC –Today U.S. Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (CA-18) released the following statement after voting to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act, historic legislation to close the gender wage gap.
"The gender pay gap has been an issue as long as women have been in the work force. Being paid less than a man for doing the same work not only affects the weekly income for women and their families, it also affects their retirement benefits. COVID has worsened these economic disparities with 2.3 million women pushed out of the labor market, including one million Moms, this past year. To address this issue, Congress must pass the Paycheck Fairness Act to close the gender pay gap that has held our nation back for far too long, and I urge my colleagues in the Senate to swiftly pass this critical legislation."
