Rep. Eshoo Votes to Pass Landmark COVID-19 Stimulus Package
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (CA-18), Chairwoman of the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, voted today to pass the American Rescue Plan Act.
“Combatting the current catastrophic public health and economic crisis requires a comprehensive and bold approach. I’m very proud that the House of Representatives passed the American Rescue Plan Act which will address this moment in America, a time to crush the virus and address the great economic needs of our people,” said Rep. Eshoo. “This life-saving legislation will defeat COVID-19, return children safely to the classroom, get vaccines to every American, shore up state and local governments that employ essential workers, put dollars into families’ pockets and put people back to work. It is an evidence-based, economist-approved plan that will put our country on the road to recovery.
“The legislation contains critical funding I fought for, including $500 million to deploy strike teams to help nursing home facilities manage outbreaks of COVID-19 when they occur. I also worked to include $500 million for the FDA to provide much-needed resources, enabling the FDA to do important work to review and authorize safe and effective diagnostics, vaccines, and therapeutics for our communities.”
