Rep. Eshoo Statement on CDC Recommendation of Pfizer Vaccine for Children
PALO ALTO, C.A. – Today U.S. Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (CA-18), Chairwoman of the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, released the following statement after the CDC recommended that the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine be administered to adolescents aged 12 to 15. The recommendation follows the FDA’s extension of its emergency use authorization for the Pfizer vaccine to cover adolescents.
“The FDA’s authorization of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 12 to 15 years old is wonderful news for our nation’s families. This authorization and the recommendation from the CDC is a major step toward a healthier summer and a safe return to school. With this two-dose vaccine, nearly 17 million children will be able to receive this life-saving vaccine, giving families and educators peace of mind. The vaccine will become widely available for eligible children in the coming days.”
