Rep. Eshoo Celebrates Biden-Harris Inauguration, Welcomes New Era in American History

January 20, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Anna G. Eshoo (CA-18) released the following statement today after attending the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris:

"Today, I was proud to witness a turning point for our country as President Biden and Vice President Harris took their oaths of office and our new President delivered eloquent words to unify our country. As I looked at the 200,000 American flags on the National Mall representing the Americans who could not attend the inauguration due to security concerns and the global pandemic, I was filled with a sense of hope that brighter days are ahead in the story of our country. This new chapter in America's history will showcase our collective resiliency and the strength of our democracy as we begin rebuilding a greater, more equitable society. I look forward to working closely with the Biden-Harris Administration to address our country's most pressing concerns, including crushing the COVID-19 pandemic, recovering from the current economic collapse, addressing the disastrous climate crisis, and fixing America's broken health care system.

"As the brilliant young poet from California, Amanda Gorman, spoke today, we are ‘a nation that isn't broken but simply unfinished.' In this new era, we must come together to continue building our unfinished nation to be a kinder, bolder, unified America."
