Rep. Eshoo Applauds Establishment of National AI Research Resource Task Force
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (CA-18) applauded the announcement from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) on the creation of the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Resource Task Force. This task force is the product of the National AI Research Resource Task Force Act, bipartisan and bicameral legislation introduced by Eshoo and enacted by Congress last year. The task force will write the road map for expanding access to critical resources and educational tools that will spur AI innovation and economic prosperity nationwide. The task force is comprised of technical experts representing government, higher education, and private organizations, including one of Rep. Eshoo’s constituents, Fei Fei Li of Stanford University.
"AI is shaping our lives in so many ways, but the true potential of it to improve society is still being discovered by researchers," said Eshoo. “This task force is an essential step in establishing the U.S. as a global leader in AI and providing innovators the tools necessary to succeed. I’m proud to have led the legislation to establish this critical task force and I will continue working in Congress to boost U.S. innovation. The task force is comprised of leading experts in tech representing government, higher education, and private organizations, including Fei Fei Li of Stanford University, located in California’s 18th Congressional District.”
As directed by Congress in the National AI Research Resource Task Force Act, the Task Force will serve as a Federal advisory committee to help create and implement a blueprint for the National AI Research Resource — a shared research infrastructure providing AI researchers and students across all scientific disciplines with access to computational resources, high-quality data, educational tools, and user support.
