House Foreign Affairs Committee Passes Eshoo Resolution Condemning Burmese Military for Violating Human Rights
February 9, 2022
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the House Foreign Affairs Committee passed Rep. Anna G. Eshoo's (D-CA) bipartisan resolution condemning the Burmese military for perpetrating gross violations of human rights against the Burmese people, a year after the coup on February 1, 2021.
"With the unanimous passage of H.Res. 896 by the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the legislation is now poised to be taken up by the full House. This Resolution sends a clear message that the U.S. stands with the Burmese people and democracy, and that the corrupt military wrongfully deposed democratically elected leaders in last year's coup. I look forward to its passage soon," said Eshoo.
