Press Release

PALO ALTO, CA – Representative Anna G. Eshoo (D-CA) released the following statement today after President Trump announced his administration is suspending negotiations with House Democrats on a new coronavirus relief bill:

“By walking away from the opportunity to help defeat the coronavirus, stabilize our economy, and come to the aid of millions of Americans in great need, President Trump has abandoned America. According to his own Chairman of the Federal Reserve, it will create ‘unnecessary hardship for households and businesses.’

“The President has time to push through a Supreme Court confirmation to ensure the Affordable Care Act can be struck down during a pandemic, but no time to forge a bipartisan agreement to lift up our people and our economy.

“He speaks volumes about himself with his order to suspend negotiations, leaving lives, livelihoods and a beleaguered nation by the side of the road. What a very sad day for America.”
