Eshoo Statement on One-Year Anniversary of January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol

January 6, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (CA-18) released the following statement on the first anniversary of the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol:

"January 6, 2021, will always be among the darkest days in the history of our country and it will remain with me all the days of my life. As we remember that day, I hold the officers who died protecting the citadel of our democracy in my prayers. They, their loved ones, and all those who so courageously defended our democracy have my unending gratitude.

"Our work must be to strengthen our democracy, protect the franchise of all Americans, and strengthen our institutions. And the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol must complete its investigation into who paid for, organized, and collaborated to overthrow our government so that this never happens again."
