Eshoo Statement on Earth Day

April 22, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C— Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo (D-CA) released the following statement in recognition of Earth Day, which began on April 22, 1970:

"Every April 22nd we recognize Earth Day to renew our commitments to protecting the planet we call home. Now more than ever, we must preserve the environment and its resources for future generations. We've made significant strides since 1970, but the current Administration threatens that progress through its withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, the repeal of the Clean Power Plan, and the recent weakening of fuel economy standards – all of which represent a stunning abdication of American leadership.

"On this Earth Day, I pledge to continue fighting to build a healthier, more sustainable world for generations to come."
