Eshoo Statement on Nomination of Dr. Arati Prabhakar to Lead Office of Science and Technology Policy
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (CA-18) released the following statement on President Biden’s announcement of his intent to nominate Dr. Arati Prabhakar to serve as Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), and once confirmed, also serve as Assistant to the President for Science and Technology.
“Dr. Prabhakar is an outstanding scientist with extraordinary credentials in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors. She previously led the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Dr. Prabhakar is a superb nominee for this role, and she will be the first woman, immigrant, or person of color nominated to serve as the Senate-confirmed director of OSTP,” said Eshoo. “Dr. Prabhakar is a constituent, has been confirmed by the Senate previously, and should be confirmed swiftly.”
