Compromise in Congress

February 11th, 2014

This week, the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate passed legislation by bipartisan votes to fund the government through September 30, 2014. This is a hopeful sign because it represents a break from the recent past of a dysfunctional Congress, lurching from one manufactured crisis to another. The deepest flaw in the bill is that it does not extend benefits for the long-term unemployed. This is harsh and harmful.
