VIDEO: Eshoo Derides House Republicans for Misguided Attack Against Women’s Health

September 30th, 2015

At a House Energy and Commerce Committee meeting, Congresswoman Eshoo defended women’s health services provided by Planned Parenthood.

House Republicans used a ‘fast-track’ budget procedure as a way to repeal the Affordable Care Act and defund Planned Parenthood for one year.

Specifically, the Republican measure would limit Medicaid reimbursements for States through any program to reimburse a “prohibited entity.” A “prohibited entity” is defined as an entity that is engaged in family planning services, abortions and receives more than $350 million in federal reimbursements per year.

Essentially, this would cut off funding for Planned Parenthood for one year.

In California alone, Planned Parenthood operates 115 health centers and serves nearly 800,000 patients through 1.5 million appointments annually.

Republicans took away our internet privacy rights. Now they want to gut #netneutrality rules. We must mobilize to protect an open internet.
